What’s in a food parcel?

Risca Foodbank provides a minimum of seven days of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food. The food parcels are packed carefully into carrier bags by our volunteers.

The Trussell Trust has worked with nutritionists to ensure food parcels contains sufficient nutrition for at least seven days worth of healthy, balanced meals for individuals and families.

A typical food parcel includes:

  • Breakfast Cereals
  • Tinned Soup
  • Tinned Baked Beans/Spaghetti
  • Tinned Tomatoes
  • Pasta or Rice
  • Pasta Sauce or Curry Sauce
  • Tinned Cold Meat
  • Tinned Hot Meat
  • Instant Mash Potato
  • Tinned Potatoes
  • Tinned Vegetables
  • Tinned Fruit
  • Tinned Rice Puddings/Tinned Custard
  • Tea or Coffee
  • UHT Milk
  • Squash
  • Jam
  • Biscuits
  • Crisps
  • Snacks (if available)

Dietary requirements

Risca Foodbank will adapt your food parcel to meet your dietary needs if required. Please let your agency know of any dietary requirements when requesting a food parcel. If there are foods in your parcel that is not to your liking then please let us know via email.
